Jeffery L. Anderson, DVM
Dr. Anderson was born in Mesa, Arizona. He is a second generation Veterinarian who grew up with many animals, often helping with the medical care of their family pets. At a young age, Dr. Anderson understood the connection that people have with their pets. Having a passion for science and being intrigued by the challenges that medicine presented, Dr. Anderson pursued his dream of becoming a Veterinarian.
Dr. Anderson attended Arizona State University, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Biology with an undergraduate in Wildlife Habitat Management. Dr. Anderson continued his education where he earned his Doctorate degree in 2010 from St. George’s University and completed a year of clinical training at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Anderson and his wife have four children – a daughter and three sons. They reside in Prescott along with their three dogs. In his free time, Dr. Anderson enjoys being outdoors and hiking. He is also a big sports fan and enjoys hockey, football, and baseball.
Where are you from: I am originally from southwest Kansas and then moved here from beautiful Colorado.
What are your hobbies: I love to travel and spend time with my grandchildren.
What are you passionate about: I am incredibly passionate about kindness. I feel everyone should be treated with kindness, especially the elderly, children, and animals. I am also passionate about pet adoption. There are too many animals in shelters that need to be rescued rather than bought from breeders.
Why veterinary medicine: Pets have an unconditional love for their owners. I like to see that love. If the pet is not feeling well when they come in I like to see the look of joy on the owner’s face when the pet is doing better.
What is your favorite animal: Dog
What is the best part of your job: Learning something new everyday. I’ve worked in this field for 13 years and I’m still learning.
Dr. Kahla Merrett spent most of her childhood moving throughout Arizona until herself an her family settled in Carefree, Arizona. When she was six years old her mother gave her a dress-up doctor kit and she enthusiastically placed bandages on her two patient dogs and unimpressed cat. It was at this time she knew she wanted to treat and care for animals.
She graduated from Arizona State University in 2014 with a degree in biochemistry. She went on to complete a master’s degree in chemistry from Northern Arizona University in 2017. During her time at NAU she began volunteering at a local animal shelter and shadowing her lifelong veterinarian to pursue her dream to become a veterinarian. She completed her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2021 from Midwestern University. During her time as a student at Midwestern University she volunteered at the Wildlife World Zoo, performed research on white tailed deer and chickens, and worked at the veterinary microbiology lab.
In her free time, Kahla enjoys camping with her two dogs or snuggling with her cats on the couch. She attempts to bake items she sees on the show “Great British Baking Show”, usually ending with mixed results. Kahla has been SCUBA diving since she was sixteen and loves to get a good dive in, when she can.
