Kahla Merret, DVM
Dr. Kahla Merrett spent most of her childhood moving throughout Arizona until herself an her family settled in Carefree, Arizona. When she was six years old her mother gave her a dress-up doctor kit and she enthusiastically placed bandages on her two patient dogs and unimpressed cat. It was at this time she knew she wanted to treat and care for animals.
She graduated from Arizona State University in 2014 with a degree in biochemistry. She went on to complete a master’s degree in chemistry from Northern Arizona University in 2017. During her time at NAU, she began volunteering at a local animal shelter and shadowing her lifelong veterinarian to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She completed her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2021 from Midwestern University. During her time as a student at Midwestern University, she volunteered at the Wildlife World Zoo, performed research on white-tailed deer and chickens, and worked at the veterinary microbiology lab.
In her free time, Kahla enjoys camping with her two dogs or snuggling with her cats on the couch. She attempts to bake items she sees on the show “Great British Baking Show”, usually ending with mixed results. Kahla has been SCUBA diving since she was sixteen and loves to get a good dive in when she can.
